Q. Do you recommend using nails or screws to fasten the stakes to form boards?
A. With our preformed holes in each stake either nails or screws may be used. Although by using screws you prevent movement of your forms.
Q. What is the transit reader for?
A. The transit reader is used with our screed/form stakes. After inserting the stakes into the ground, place the transit reader on top of each stake. The transit reader when placed on top of our stakes mimics a 1 1/2" pipe.
Place your transit stick on top of the round radius part of the transit reader and take your reading. To adjust, tap on the stake or top of the transit reader. Now your stakes are level and ready for the pipe. It's that easy.
Q. How many times can these stakes be re-used?
A. Since our stakes are made out of high-impact ABS plastic, they can be used over and over again.
Q. Do the stakes pull back out of the ground easily?
A. Yes. Our stakes are designed for easy insertion and extraction. Our General Stake even has a built in handle.
Q. Why did you design your stakes wide?
A. Both of our Screed and General stakes are designed so a shorter stake may be used. The width holds the stake in the soil. This is fantastic for sandy and loose soil conditions. If you are working in clay soil you don't need to pound and pound a long steel stake in the ground, just use our 12" stake.
Q. Are your stakes warranted?
A. Our stakes are designed not to break when used correctly. If they do break, we will replace them free of charge.
Q. What do you mean by used correctly?
A. Our stakes are designed with a top ledge for striking when inserting into the ground. They are not designed for blows to the back of the stake or to the rib part of the stake. When removing our stakes from the ground all you need to do is tap on the thin "side" of the stake and pull up.
Q. Why use the Do It Alone® Stakes?
A. They are more cost effective over other stake systems, installation time is reduced and results are more accurate. Our stakes are designed so a shorter stake can be used for most applications.
Q. Why would I use the Do It Alone® Stakes instead of steel stakes?
A. Steel stakes are very costly. Steel bends in time. They can develop sharp burrs after use, causing possible injury to workers. Thin steel stakes move in soft or loose soil.
Q. Why would I use the Do It Alone® Stakes instead of wood stakes?
A. Wood stakes break and split. They are harder to drive into the soil and/or forms. Wood stakes must be re-purchased frequently causing extra cost in time (time is money). No pre-drilled holes in wood stakes, which has caused board movement when nailing making labor time longer when correcting moved forms.
Q. If I do not live near a store that carries your stake can I get a sample of your stake?
A. Yes, just give us a call or email us with your name and address and we will ship one out to you at no charge. |
